Yum Update Command With Disable Exclude

If your Linux machine is having some Exclude package configured in Yum repository, and if you want to disable the exclude temporarily for few Install/Update commands..

You can do that easily with adding one Option to you Install/Update commands. you have multiple options for that:

Generating an ADU report In ESXi 5.0

Obtain and install the HP Array Diagnostics and SmartSSD Wear Gauge Utility :
  • Browse to the official HP website 
  • Click on Support & Drivers 
  • Select Drivers & Software
  • In the search box, type HP Array Configuration Utility .
  • Select the operating system of the client machine that will be used to remotely access the machine running ESXi 5.0 and updates.
  • Under the Software , System Management menu, proceed to download the HP ProLiant Array Diagnostics and SmartSSD Wear Gauge Utility by clicking on its link.
                NOTE: The desired version is 9.x or newer.

The System Management Homepage can also be used to access the HP Lights-Out Management processor on ProLiant and Integrity servers.

Yum Update Command With Exclude

Exclude selected packages while running yum update command under CentOS / RHEL / Fedora / Red Hat Enterprise Linux server.

Yum uses a configuration file at /etc/yum/yum.conf or /etc/yum.conf. You need to place exclude directive to define list of packages to exclude from updates or installs. This should be a space separated list. Shell globs using wildcards * and ?) are allowed.
